Fall is a time of beautiful autumn colors, returning to school and amazing golf. The weather can simply be the best of the year for golfing. The sweltering heat has passed and the cool crisp air seems to send our balls soaring. Even with the demands of school, our job as golfers is to find time to maintain or even grow our games. But with a return to standard time, it might be best to hit the driving range immediately after school and crack the books once the sun goes down.
Whatever adjustments to your routine that might be necessary, fall golf can be some of the most rewarding play all year.
We are absolutely thrilled to have Mao Zeting as our cover girl. She is just one of the six girls who brought emerged victorious this summer at the US Kids World Golf Championships in Pinehurst, NC. You will get a chance to read about each one of these terrific golfers and her rise to the title of World Champion in her respective age group.
University of Southern California is our pick for this issue’s College Corner. Its Los Angeles location and incredible school spirit make it extremely attractive for student golfers all over the world. Being NCAA Champions in Women’s Golf might also add to its desirability! With Trump National numbered among its home courses, a very sweet and very talented head coach, sunny southern California weather and the prestige of a USC education, it’s easy to understand why a spot on this team is one of the most coveted in the land.
Our favorite LPGA contributing editor, Natalie Gulbis, gives us the low down on her very impressive showing at the 2008 Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge. You can feel her excitement jump out of the page as you read her story.
Monica Lalinde is featured in our Careers in Golf. Monica is a Golf Course Superintendent. Every time you say, “Wow! This course is manicured beautifully,” you will surely think of Monica. Her job is important to every golfer that sets foot on her course. You will enjoy hearing about the path that led her into the heart of a male-dominated profession.
Our fashion section reflects the fall season. We feature clothes that work well for Indian summer or the cool, brisk air of an autumn afternoon. The more subdued colors blend nicely with fall foliage and the separates can be layered into ensembles for the unpredictable weather conditions. Whatever the temperature, we are sure you will find these fashions practical and beautiful.
We were saddened about the closing of Golf for Women. It was certainly our second favorite magazine. Keep spreading the word about your favorite Golfer Girl Magazine. And keep sending those fabulous photographs, encouraging letters, and insightful e-mails. They keep our publication alive and thriving... and designed just for you... our loyal golfer girls!
